What are the changes to VCE/VCAL?
From 2025, all schools across Victoria will offer the ‘Integrated Senior Secondary Certificate’ which brings together the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) and the Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL). This new certificate will give students greater choice and flexibility to pursue their strengths and interests, and develop the skills and capabilities needed to succeed in further education, work and life.

Which year levels will be available at which campus, as of 2023?
As of 2023, St Bede’s College will house two dynamic Middle School Hubs; one at each of the campuses. Mentone Campus will also be home to our Senior School Hub, which will accommodate all Year 10-12 St Bede’s students.

Why is this change occurring next year?
While the full course changes announced by the Victorian State Government will be implemented over two years, they begin to take effect in January 2023. The College and the Board recognised that a delay in updating the structure of our campuses meant diminished elective choices for Bentleigh East students, decreasing access and equity at the same fee levels.
This is also a fantastic opportunity for our students to be ahead of the curve, by ensuring Year 10 elective offerings are in line with the changes taking place at Years 11 and 12 in 20024-2025 and by allowing time for them to completely settle in to their respective Middle and Senior Hubs prior to the final stages of the VCAA changes.
How will my child travel to and from campuses?
A bus service that runs between campuses will be funded as required to ensure this transition is as seamless as possible for our families.
Will I need to transfer my enrolment to Mentone or will this be automatically transferred over?
Enrolments will be automatically transferred; no administration is required by families.
Will there be a difference in fees now my child is moving to Mentone?
There is no difference in enrolment fees, regardless of which campus your child attends.
I feel unfamiliar with Mentone Campus; when am I able to revisit?
Although your child will already be well acquainted with the Mentone campus through ‘whole-school’ assemblies, sport training, or event attendance (eg Mad Day).
