Meet our outstanding cohort of College Captains for 2025
A letter to our community
Leadership at St Bede’s College is a profound honor, one that we, as leaders, have aspired to since the early days of Year 7. By working collaboratively and embodying our College’s core values, we aim to inspire all students to live by our motto Per Vias Rectas, and to nurture and strengthen the inclusive culture, love for learning, and commitment to faith, service, and community. We are dedicated to upholding and enhancing the legacy of excellence and integrity that defines St Bede’s College.
As a united and strong team, we strive for excellence in all areas of College life. As Captains, one of our many aspirations is to foster unity and courage – the courage for all boys to be themselves, embrace their unique strengths and perspectives, and recognise that this is what unites us as Beda Boys.
With the relationships we have built with peers and teachers over the years, and the new connections we will forge in the time ahead, we are prepared to be the reliable leaders you can count on, dedicated to supporting you in every possible way. We, as a collective, promise to always be open and approachable to every one of our peers, to listen to your suggestions, and to take action. Implementing mentor programs where we engage with each year level across the College to address concerns and listen to your voices is a key goal of ours.
As Captains, we are committed to doing what is right for our cohort, ensuring that 2025 is both an enjoyable and productive year for everyone in the Beda community. Together, the four of us will transform the immense responsibility of being College Captains into a rewarding experience that we are eagerly excited to begin.
Yours truly
Maurice, Finn, Joe and Flynn
2025 College Captains
VCE Vocational Major Captain – Joel De Oliveira
“I’m extremely honored to have been selected to be the VCE-VM Captain for 2025! I have no words to explain how much this means to me.
I look forward to taking on the leadership role as it’s something new to me, but that’s the point, to go out of your comfort zone and try out new things. That’s what I would recommend for every student at this College to do – to challenge themselves in one or more co-curricular activities that our College offers and to do it to your best of abilities.”
Lasallian Captain – Cooper Manuel
Ecological Captain – Chris Svilar
Public Speaking and Debating Captain – Michael Robertson
Arts Captain – Tane Rewi-Wetini
